40 year old mystery solved!
When I was a teenager, I had a transistor radio w/earphone and listened to it every night while going to sleep.
There was one song that I remember, but could never, ever recall who did it, or what it's title was. There is a brief pause in the music, and then it would come back loudly. I would fall asleep during the pause, and then wake up abruptly when it came back.
This evening I was listening to Nexus Radio : Deep Oldies, and just plugged the earphones in during the very moment I recall.
The song is Tongue-in-Cheek by Sugarloaf.
That is the last song from the 70's that I could not recall.
