What All Americans Need To Know
"America's abundance was created not by public sacrifices to the common good, but by the productive genius of free men who pursued their own personal interests and the making of their own private fortunes...They gave the people better jobs, higher wages, and cheaper goods with every new machine they invented, with every scientific discovery or technological advance–and thus the whole country was moving forward and profiting." – Ayn Rand

Commandment
One of the 10 Commandments is "Thou Shalt Not Steal". This applies to everyone, including the state. Nothing good has ever come out of forced appropration of property, not matter how it might look.
Entire countries and societies have been wiped out forever because this one principle had been ignored.
Property rights are absolute, just as God has decreed, in case you question it.

Movie Seen
A couple of nights ago, I saw an interesting movie on Netflix streaming called "Black Lightning". This is a Russian film about a young man who given a car for his birthday which is an old 1950's Volga which unbeknownst to him has something called nanocyst (or something close to that) installed on it (similar to a "flux capacitor" from "Back to the Future". He discovers that it has the ability to fly and tremendous speeds (a bit faster than "The Nutty Professor" with Fred McMurry and his flying car). He has the attitude given to him from a professor that "everyone is out for themselves" and when he is to go meet his father, is waiting in his car for him, a woman frantically knocks on his window that someone needs help. He responds with "Calling an ambulance is free.", not knowing that it is is father who needs help after being stabbed.
When he finds this out and the ambulance driver tells him "If only we had been called sooner." he changes his attitude toward life and vows to use his car to fight crime and injustice. He masters the flying of the car and uses it to catch criminals and help people in trouble (rescues a child from a burning building) and becomes an unknown hero to many. I give it 4 of 5 stars as it's one of those unknown gems that make you feel good.

Movies Seen
My wife and I watched "The Hunger Games" on Friday evening. We got it from Redbox for $1.60. This is somewhat cheaper than the $11.50 (each) they charge at the theater or even the $6.00 (each) for the weekend matinee special. Surround sound with a 60" HDTV, microwave popcorn, no need to turn off cell phones, being able to pause it for a bathroom break, no screaming kids, lots of leg room, priceless.
Anyway, the movie was great. I give it 4.5 out of 5. Recommend reading the book first, as it gives more information that you might like to have while watching.
Sunday evening we watched "A Death at a Funeral", which is a British comedy my wife found utterly hilarious. I had actually seen it before a long time ago, but since it had been such a long time, it looked "new" to me!

The Hunger Games
Reserved "The Hunger Games" on Redbox. Will pick it up after work. Purchased the book of the same title for my Kindle. Got to see what all the fuss is about.

Movies Seen
Last night we saw "Patrick 1.5" which is a Swedish film about a married gay couple (male) who want to adopt a child. They are finally approved and receive a letter in the mail from Social Services that has a small typo in it. Instead of 1,5 year old child, they get a 15-year old child with a troubled background and is homophobic. Good movie about learning to get along.
