March 9th, 2010 we watched "Up In The Air" with George Clooney. He portrays a man who travels all over the country and fires people. The company who employed him, suggested that a new way to do it was over the internet. An office was set up with a terminal and a web-cam so they could see the person who was being let go and they could see them as they explained to him/her that they were being fired. It was very ipersonal and was scrapped in favor of the face-to-face method after one poor girl who was fired committed suicide. The movie received some Oscar nominations and is a good film. I recommend it, especially to those who have sat on the other side of the desk and were shown the door.
